Anode Governance Lab is a Bangalore based organisation that works towards strengthening governance and enabling public institutions to function effectively. Our belief is that vibrant and learning institutions adapt and negotiate with the external environment to deliver their mandate consistently. Our institution building efforts leverage organisation development (OD) principles, which adopts a systemic view to change, associating with members of the institution as participants and not recipients of change.
We partner with professionals from different disciplines, as well as with government and non-government organisations that are committed to sustainable change processes through effective institutions.
Our focus areas:
I had a very intense field visit to the Jharkhand project where Pradan and Anode have been working with panchayats since the last three years. I visited 4 different Panchayats, 1 Block Panchayat and met 12 Mukhiyas, 1 Zila Parishad member and 18 School Teachers and many students of three schools.
It was heartening to see very different panchayats, where the elected members were not ‘thekedars’ but leaders with a vision. In my experience, even when Mukhias are positively engaged in schooling system, they take care of infrastructure. Here I encountered Mukhias talking of lesson plans!
The work of strengthening the local democratic processes and institutions and infusing positive energy into the schools has built a good momentum on the ground. The momentum, built through PRADAN’s long association with the SHGs, is well leveraged in this relatively newer initiative. The partnership of ANODE has added professional Organisation Development understanding and has provided structured training, program management and monitoring tools. There is something exceptional happening… empowerment taking place is phenomenal. Credits to Pradan and Anode, who have a mutually complementing relationship! This has to be sustained further in the future.
